ACE is a file compression format like zip.  So search for a program called
winace to unzip or rather unace it.  There is also another compression
program called rar.  So, if you have been paying attention, dload winrar to
uncompress those files.

Why don't these people use the standard zip compression like most? I hate
having three comprssion programs loaded on my computer. Sometimes I have
seen them use winrar then the file inside that is an ace file. ???

You use the tool best suited to the job.  Zip format is not nearly as
efficient in compressing files as rar & ace are in most cases.  Anyway,
2 short d/l's & you're all hooked up.  No biggy.  :-)

"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the
citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a
double-edged sword. It both emboldens the ***, just as it narrows the
mind.  And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the
*** boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no
need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry,
infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their
rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I
have done. And I am Caesar."   -- Julius Caesar

Zip is generally the least efficient method of file compression and,
contrary to popular belief, not everyone uses it.

Eh?  If you're using windows just get Winrar.  It's shareware but
doesn't cripple itself after the eval period (just gives you a
friendly reminder screen) and it can create/open all of the standard
windows compression formats.  It features the same right-click
functionality as winzip also.  I'm pretty sure it will open the
standard unix file formats also, such as tar, gzip, and bzip.  Can't
argue with that.

Come on we are talking about relatively small no-cd cracks so there is no
reason to use really high compression programs. That's for warez dudes. But,
it is no biggy, just an unnecessary annoyance.

Believe me, *everyone* uses it that uses Windows. Most game patches and beta
video drivers are in zip files. I'm well aware Winrar and Ace are more
efficient at compression, but we are talking about smallish no-cd cracks and
not 500mb of warez stuff.

I have it already. In fact, I probably have about five copies of it on
various cdroms lieing around, Ace too. It doesn't do Ace  files as far as I
remember.

Winrar supports the following formats:

.rar
.zip
.cab
.arj
.lzh
.ace
.tar
.gz
.uue
.bz2
.jar

OK, I stand corrected.
