Mad Max style game?

Mad Max style game?

Has anyone come across a game in the style of the opening sequence of "Mad
Max"? It's the sequence with the police pursuing a psycho in a stolen police
interceptor. I always thought that a driving/action game in that setting
would be a lot of fun.  Just watched my DVD again last night and thought I
would ask the group.

The closest I have found is a papy 0-10 daytona at around 1 a.m.

Seriously, I think the I-76/I-82 games were close to what I'm looking for,
but I have never played them. Any opinions or reviews would be appreciated.

I76 is the only thing close to Mad Max/Road Warrier. I-82 is crap, and
Twisted Metal (console vehicle combat) is only decent in multiplayer
as an arena combat game.

I76 stands up incredibly well. It's still a great game by today's
standards. It's pretty tough to get working on a modern system though.

Yeah, I agree.

I76 is great.

I82 is NOTHING like I76 and is a waste of time.

Try GTGame's Driver. It's in an urban setting, but it's the same idea...
Play
the "pursuit" minigame, not the main campaign, to get your "fix". :-)

Yeah, got that DVD too... :-)  (and no, we're NOT talking about Road
Warrior. )
