Can anyone out there do a lap of sub 57secs on Long Beach? The best
I can do is 57.something secs. What should the gear-ratios and wing
settings be to do it? And can someone explain how to set up gear-
ratios as well? It's beyond me, and nothing like the setup menu
in F1GP.
Thanks.

I think you need to focus on your driving skills since the DEFAULT
FAST setup, even with auto transmission, is good for 54 second laps. Once
you use the setup features, a low 53 without wall contact is possible.
Check the current internet records:

-------------------- Long Beach    (1.590 miles)
----------------------------
  0:53.036   107.927 mph   94/11/11   s  j  y   Imre Kolos
  0:53.305   107.382 mph   94/11/05   s  w  y   Darrel Cherry
  0:53.751   106.491 mph   95/01/24   s  j  y   Peter Burke

with dmaage off, people are running mid 52's...

Apparently I *suck* at Long Beach, and I'm around 55.8.  In IICC the leaders
ran 52.8 I think.

I think you have to have a lot of wing up front and not much in the rear, but
gearing isn't tough.

I am pretty sure that it's all in the corner exit speeds.

How about auto-braking, on or off?

I'd also be interested in settings, can someone please post.

are you kidding?

if you are serious in your question above, I can assure you none of
the hottests setups in the world would show any difference for you.
If youwere joking, then please read the original post again:
I am saying hte DEFAULT FAST setup, the choice that came
with the game, is good for 53 sec laps - I myself ran a 53.908 with
the FAST setup, at that time even with autoshift.

Long Beach is NOT a setup track. you need to heat your tires in the
lap before you run, and then just let it all out. But you need a few
hundred laps on a track to get the feel, and a few thousand in the
entire simulation to get good at it. The poeple above have all more
than 20,000 laps in, probably more. Autobraking was turned off
in lap 2 of my Incar sim carreer ;-)

Gee Sayyed, thanks for including nearly the entire previous post to, well,
inform us of that.

I'd say off with the auto braking since it, well, sucks!

<Long Beach stuff delted>

Definitely off. I was running 1:05s with it on, and the first lap I ran with it off, not
knowing a single braking point, I hit a 1:02. Now my best is a 0:58...ah well, I always
liked ovals anyway :)
