Lemme whine for a few more minutes... Actually, this isn't really a whine,
it's really a compliment (but I'll deliver it back-handed :-)

Looking at the in-car ESPN2 coverage yesterday from Nazareth, it seems that
at least that track doesn't really drive like the real thing (unless you're
driving a '94 Penske/Ilmor).   I'd like to ask Papyrus to fine-tune the
sim so that things are a bit more realistic.  In a way this is a whine,
because the game is great as it is, but it's *SO* good that you sort of feel
like they could make it that much better!

As simulator racers go I'm probably not very good, but even I can drive
Nazareth at 170 mph and have to lift only once, very briefly.   Even with
a setup that's over my head I can fly around the track a WHOLE LOT faster
than poor Mi. Andretti did, and that even when his car seemed to be handling
a lot better near the end of the race.  His cornering speeds were down in the
130's and a couple of times in the 120's, and I doubt I've EVER done a lap
out of traffic with cornering that low.

Snipped from an IndyCar Racing at Nazareth note:

Not really flaming ya here, but I doubt you're pulling near as many physical
G's as Michael is either.

Of course not - Papyrus/Thrustmaster hasn't gotten around to making complete
simulations yet :-)  :-)

But correct if i'm wrong, Michigan is much more lateral G-force than
Nazareth, right?  Anyway, I'm not one of those who's driving a real
racer at all, so what do I know... but I figure that as long as Papyrus
is out for making a great simulator they might as well calibrate against
what we see (think?) is reality.

One thing to keep in mind is that the speeds at Nazareth were the
highest they had ever been due to the new tyrrrrrrrres from Goodyear!
Firestone is going to challenge Goodyear in Indycar racing next year,
so GY is responding with more radical compounds than ever to keep
their competitive edge.  So now the speeds are up 10 -15 mph over last
year.  Try getting an average speed of 185 at Nazareth with last years
***, it cant be done!
