Question about wheel...

by Ramon L. Negro » Fri, 16 Feb 2001 22:21:46

Hi:
I would like to buy a good steering wheel to be used mainly with N4 and
GPL. Currently I'm using a CH's F-16 FighterStick with ProThottle and
ProPedals. I would like to be able to keep the ProPedals. Is there
anybody using the ProPedals with any steering wheel that can give me
some advice?

TIA,

This is my opinion on the wheels. If you don't mind spending alot of money,
Get the TSW. If you are looking to spend under $200., That puts you in the
FF group of wheels. Act labs, Logitech, etc.
They are great wheels, especially the Act Labs. But I find the FF wheels
Terrible for Nascar. They are alot of fun with the rally games and other
games where you are turning back and forth using most of the wheels turning
radius. But in Nascar it takes very little and precise wheel movement to
steer the car. The FF wheels are notchy and make it difficult to give subtle
steering inputs. I am sure many out there use these wheels and they work
just fine. The wheel I used for many years and I still think is one of the
best wheels for the nascar game is the Thrustmaster T2. You can get these
wheels on E-Bay for less then $20. If you  are ok without FF, you would have
to 20 times that to get a better wheel.

Kevin:
Thanks for your prompt reply. I just visited the Thrustmaster site and
looked at their "NASCAR Pro Digital 2", at $60 looks good! BTW, they say
it's out of stock right now. As you mentioned, it's not FF but that's
fine. Read a good review but I would like the opinion of one of you
guys. If anybody is using this wheel and care to comment on it, it will
be appreciated a lot!.

TIA

I was originally going to get the NPD2 but after trying it versus the
Microsoft non-ff, I decided on the MS one.  It took up less desk
space, better clamping system to remove the wheel from desk, feels
great.  I got it for $69CAN after $30rebate.  (When the hell am I
getting my rebate!!)
