Joystick can only accelerates/move the Car

My 3D-Pro sidewinder joystick can only accelerate the car driven in
the game but is not able to steer it. It works fine in flight
simulator 5.1 and win'95 was able to calibrate it fine.

This game is the demo for big red racing. I tried re-calibrating it in
the demo program but no luck.  Please help.
