Back of the field...no matter what...

by Pops » Fri, 31 Mar 2000 04:00:00

I don't get it.  GPL practice...fastest time.  But when I go to the Race, I
always start in the back of the field.  Am I supposed to sit and wait until
the race starts after practice?  Or do I click on the little arrow that
gives the message about "Stopping a practice before practice time is done."
I sat for five minutes after I ran out of practice time this evening because
the little message said "Practice Over - Stand By".  How long do I "Stand
By"?

It's frustrating to do so good in practice, and get the lowest times, but
then start in the back of the field in the race.

I know it's something that I'm doing wrong.  But what is it?

Thanks in advance...

Try clicking on the accelerate time button if you haven't already tried that.
I had the same thing happen and was wondering how long I was gonna have to
stand by too, lol.  Anyway, hopefully that will work for you.  Good luck.

Run your practise laps in Practice Session 1..
Then rather than hang around and wait two hors, check the "accelerate time"
box.
Repeat for Practice Session 2.
Race.

Bruce...

You DA MAN!

I feel like a fool...all this time, I've been starting from the back and
running up through the field.  Doing pretty good too.

But now I can start from the FRONT!

However...one small caveat...make sure you take off as soon as the flag
drops or somebody's gonna run up your back!

And you are right about Indy being a BLAST!

Thanks Bruce...

And a great big THANKS to Dave Noonan, my favorite track engineer, for his
latest converter.

Hi,
I do wish there was even some way to accelerate accelerated time though!
It sometimes seems to take forever.  It would be nice if you could just
press a button that jumped you straight to the next session without
consequences.  Why should I have to start from the back if I just want to
go to the race section quickly?

Later,
John

Isn't that what I'm supposed to do?  Don't tell me I'm STILL doing it wrong.

Tell you what......after you've clicked the button, go and either (a) have
dinner or (b) have a bowel movement or (c) take a shower or (d) put the
garbage out and the garden tools away or (e) read a story to the kids or (f)
watch the news or (g) read the paper or..............

Get my drift? :-)

You're doing "right" Jim.  Just that an's too slow and doesn't react when
the flag starts to drop.
Me....I've got it down to a fine art.......launch as soon as that green rag
starts downwards!
