WHEEL SPINNING IN THE PITS TO HEAT TIRES, OIL , WATER and BURN GAS!!!!

NASCAR 2 TESTING IS UNDERWAY AT THE IVGA and We found the following
5 issues to be addressed!!!!

SUBJECT:        ABUSING THE TIRES IN THE PITS!!!!!!!!!!

We here at the IVGA tested the Wheel Standing and Spinning Features
of the NASCAR 2 and found it provided the following results.  By taking
the car and pointing it at the wall the following was achieved.  The
use of these benefits are not clear!

1).     BURN OFF SOME GAS BEFORE QUALIFYING!!!!!!!!!!!

You can burn off the gas at the rate of .1 tenth of gas
each 10 seconds provided you maintain a RPM of greater
than 2000.  We used 5000 RPM as the best results.  We
just used a book on the GAS pedal.  You can actually
burn off a 21 gallons of gas in 35 minutes.

2).     While in the BURN OFF GAS MODE.. TIRE WEAR DOESNT SEEM
to occur!!  WEIRD there is SMOKE everywhere... Must be
        SLEATH SMOKE!!!!

3).     HEAT OIL and WATER TEMPERATURE RISES TO 300 Degrees.  While
pointing at the wall the oil and water temperatures can
rise to 300 degrees.  Now I have seen the NASCAR boys
tape off the front of thier cars to increase the heat.
I tested this method and was able to run 197.5 qualifier
at the Taladega in NASCAR 2.  Without heated Oil and Water
I was only able to qual at 195.1's.

4).     HEAT REAR TIRES!!!!!!!!!

We were able to heat the REAR Tires about 40 degrees by
point the car at the wall.

Solutions to above.  At the IVGA in FASTLAP we used a timelimit
to prevent things like the above..

Given that you only have a couple of minutes to qualify in online races,
this certainly isn't going to be a problem in the NRO. I suppose it could
cause problems offline series.

Hi Don,

No matter how well the program's coded, if someone want's to
cheat, they'll find a way to do it...The important factor to me is
that it doesn't take place during on-line racing.

Given the fact that most on-line qual sessions are on the order of
5 minutes, I fail to see where this will be a problem.  Off line
maybe.  35 minutes?!!!  Must've been a slow day at IVGA!

NO, NO, NO!!!  The NASCAR teams do NOT tape off the grille to increase
heat.  They tape it off to decrease drag/increase front downforce. The
increased heat is just a result of the grille taping.

They really don't want any heat at all in the engine before qualifying
so they can tape as much of the grille up as possible and not burn the
engine up.  That's why, before a qualifying run, they use their
pressurized water tanks to force ICE COLD water into the engine.  A
trick they used to use until about 2 years ago was to run a special
radiator with an ice reservoir in it.  That was seen as a needless
expense, so Gary Nelson outlawed them before the '95 season.

The only thing the teams actually heat before a qual run or a race is
the oil.  They have special heaters inside the oil tank that connect
to a power supply.  This is done mainly to get the oil hot enough to
flow freely.

Pat if you just burn off gas for 4 mintues before you qual you can
still elimniate 2.4 gallons or about 15 pounds...  That can sure
make a difference in qualifying..  I would like to see a 60 sec
timer added to the N2 to stop all this stuff....

Ok... Pat than if you can heat the Oil as you and I agree.  What is
the difference in qualifying.  Even .25 mph can make up a whole
lot of places..  In either OFF-LINE or ON-LINE racing...

Wheelstands? In Nascar2? I must have missed that 'feature.' Also,
you're not using enough exclamation points in your posts, Don.
