DTR problem

My friend has a 266 Pentium II, Voodoo 3 PCI 2000, Win 95, and DX6.1.
When he first installed the DTR demo it ran without any problems then
after two days it started getting real jerky after about two laps.  It
doesn't matter how many cars are running nor whether he has the
rearview mirror on.  It happens at all resolutions also.  We've tried
reinstalling the video drivers after a wipe of all 3dfx drivers and
dll's and cleaning the registry of all voodoo and 3dfx references, and
also reinstalled the game.  Right now he is downloading the lastest
drivers and DX7 but I am not hopefull.  Any ideas on a fix out there?

Randy, try defraging your hd! This has fixed the problem
for a few people!
