Pepsi car need help importing...

by Gary M » Sun, 23 Feb 1997 04:00:00

Hi all, I've been trying to import a Pepsi car I download from someone's
Nascar page, and am having zero luck. It seems my ability to work with
graphic programs is like DE racing the 500 on his roof :(

If someone has a Pepsi car in the .car format and would be kind enough
to email it to me I would be very grateful.  Or if someone would like to
covert the Pepsi car I have in the .pcx format to a .car format that
would be great.  I could email it to you.

Again, I really would appreciate this.  So would DE, he doesn't like how
I drive his car!

Place your .pcx file into the \nascar2 directory.  If it is named
pepsi.pcx, rename it Xpepsi.pcx, then go into the game, create a new
driver, name it pepsi, them import the car.  If you would like to race as
the pepsi car, again put it in the \nascar2 directory, but rename
Xt_playe.pcx, then import it into the 96 car's spot (or whatever car you
are driving currently).

Brian thanks for your help, however, I have tried this and am getting a
Corrupt Palette error message.  I have also tried the copy and paste
onto an existing car.  I still get the error message.  The only graphic
software I have is Corel Photo-Paint, it must be able to handle this,
but doesn't seem to be working.  Like I say I'm a bit of a bonehead when
it comes to graphic software.  Any other ideas?

Once again thanks,
Gary M.

With PaintShopPro (PSP) you can SAVE & LOAD palattes. So you load
default.pcx and save the palatte. Then just load that palatte into every
PCX file you want to use in the game. Ditto if you want to put your picture
into in the game. I did mine so I know it will work.

You should be able to copy the .pcx file of the car  you want to drive
into the main NASCAR2 directory.   You must rename the file to
XT_PLAYE.PCX, then go to the Paint your car section of N2 and then
select Import, remember to save the results.  For more information check
out the NASCAR2 faq at

Actually you *MUST* rename the file to whatever your current driver name
is.
I have myself in the game, so in my case it would be XG_Cisko.pcx. Just a
nit,
but possibly an important one... Also, something that may need to be
changed in
the FAQ (which I am embarrased to say I haven't read yet).

Gary, did you get this Pepsi car in the game yet?  If not e-mail what
ever pcx file you have and will e-mail you back a car file ready to go.

One last tip for importing cars that I found. Make sure that your
Windows resolution is set for 256 colors. I did go & read the
FAQ and the method described does work. The only thing missing
in the FAQ directions is to make sure that your Windows res is
set to 265 colors. My resolution was set to 16-bit color (65K) and I
always got a "corrupted palatte" error. I set my display for 256 colors
and it worked.

Not unless you've created a new .CAR file. Changing the name at the lower
right-hand corner does not change the name of the .CAR file. So if you use
the default T_PLAYER.CAR and change the name, the car image import/export
file will still be XT_PLAYE.PCX and the driver import file will be
T_PLAYER.PCX.

If I'm not mistaken, Greg's problem with using the Pepsi car was that he
downloaded a N1 PCX and tried to use it in N2.  Common mistake.

"Greg" never messed with the Pepsi car. I was participating in the help
process. Another common mistake :-)
