I really like using r.a.s and newsgroups in general, but they do seem pretty
unreliable.  Maybe it's just my news server, but I seem to miss about 30% of
posts, and often my own posts don't appear (on my PC at least) for 4 or 5
hours.  Then there's about 2% of posts which appear in totally the wrong
place (probably because they are follow-ups to missing posts).

Does everyone get this patchy level of service?

Cheers,
Simon.

Not at all, who do you use as your ISP?  I use AT&T Worldnet and it seems to
be flawless with all the NG's I subscribe to....

news.ntlworld.com works perfectly for me, although you may need an ntl
account to be able to access it.

My ISP's has been flaky for the last 8 or 9 months (very similar problems to
yours)...before that it was bullet-proof.  I called them to inquire about
the problems--they acknowledged them but claimed they were in the process of
upgrading.  They should have left them as they were!!

Try this news server Simon, news.mho***.com

It's a free server, and I use them when my paid news server (WebUseNet
Corp - "ReInventing the UseNet") are reinventing thier antiquated servers.
