REQ: Steering Wheel advice

I currently own a F1 Sim Compact(unfortuantly).
Quite frankly I can't stand it anymore. It constantly drifts off
center and the pedals have started playing up.

As a result i've decided to invest in a new wheel.
I'm interested in getting one with Force Feedback, but don't know
where to start so i post this message asking for advice.

I'm looking for something no too expensive.(ie under 100).

I will be using it to play both sim and arcade games so it would
have to be fairly robust.

and not too big(the base on the sim compact is huge)

I've been looking at the microsoft force feedback wheel, i like
the pedals it comes with but the wheel feels like it will fall
appart within a few days use. thats really the only one i've had
the chance to look at so far,

any suggestions??

Simon.

Theres been hundreds of posts re merits of different wheels - got to
deja.com and choose newsgroup search - also all the racing sim sites such as
simracing.com and others - just do a search on your browser. The MSFF wheel
isnt flimsly - I've been using mine regularly for 18 months - people in this
newsgroup prefer the Logitech wheel, but most agree you need to replace the
pedals which is added expense and hassle.

Hi chimp,

If you don't have to have force feedback, check out the MadCatz Andretti
wheel. I got one a few weeks ago on Ebay (but it was new)... I have had
a great time with it; the grip is nice, the tension feels really good,
and the pedals are nice and big. I've just gotten started with Grand
Prix Legends, and there is a great range of movement in the pedals -
important for fine throttle control. The shifter feels nice.

I'd like more buttons on the wheel, but other than that, it's just what
I was looking for.

I was also considering the Act Labs non-ff wheel because of the cool
shifter available, but apparently the pedals don't have enough range...
Plus I got a great deal on the Andretti!

good luck,
Andrew
