My new addiction

I purchased N2002 two days ago, and man am I loving it. The best Papy
release yet. But sadly, it got worse. I raced online (despite my crummy
dial-up connection), and I absolutely loved it. The adrenaline, the feeling
of accomplishment and racing against live people. Frankly, I never knew how
good it was until now.

My very first race was a 16 lap run at Daytona with four other gentlemen. I
qual'ed in 4th, during the race I moved up and down our small pack making it
up to first at one point. I finished in fourth, too, but at least I did a
damn good job of keeping the car in one piece and staying competative. It
wasn't a bad race to test the waters, so to speak.

Yes, N2002 is my ***ion...and I enjoy it 110%. :-)

I've been racing NFS:PU online, and that can take a
long minute after the pit boss starts the race to synch
systems and let everyone know what color everyone's car
is, among other things.  That's max of 8 cars, each
with one of 7 or 8 stripe patterns, a number, and "true"
color values for the base paint and up to 2 stripes.

So it doesn't need to really download a massive image
of each car to the large field of competitors that we
hear about in N 2002.

How long does it take to get everyone synched up to go
racing?

Its immediate nearly, since the custom paint schemes are actually located on
each of the client's machines as you have to paint them and distribute them
to your fellow competitors, the game then loads the sheme from a local HD.
If someone is running a custom scheme that you do not have loaded, they
appear to you as a generic, 1 color car with their number on it.

The only problem with racing NR2002 online is that it supports SO many cars,
that sheer bandwidth becomes the issue.

No wife and kids, luckily. hehe. As for broadband, I fully intend to get DSL
within a couple months. Right now, I have to be extra cautious on the track
because my ISP is so lousy (and the phone lines). I can't deal with these
slow speeds no longer....$600 a year isn't a bad investment for DSL, IMO.

Yep you'll be cashing in those "sick" days now because you stayed up all
