NASCAR 4 is the game
Hi here are my system specs
Windows 98SE
DirectX 8.0a
Athelon 800mhz with
Giga-byte 71xe Motherboard with AMD 751/756 chipset
40 Gig HD
Zip CD650 DVD Player/CDRW
48x CD ROM
SB Live Platinum

Heres the dilemma, I was running the ATI All In Wonder 128 Pro 32MB and it
kept locking up my system, 1 or 2 laps into a race. I downloaded every new
driver and bios updates fro everything. papus basically told me to go s&$t
in my hat. The quote was. You Dont know what you are doing, this is the
rolls royce of games all others are tinker toys. I tried it all and nothing.
So just for snicks I vorrowed someones EVGA Geforce 2 MX. No problems, but I
lose all the features of the ATI. I just bought it like 6 months ago and
love it otherwise. Anyone know if Windows XP might help or hurt this
situation? Aany help would be appriciated. Thanks

Can't answer your specific question about XP and the ATI card, however I had a
similar dilemma a few months back.  I had an ATI All-in-Wonder card and a
Voodoo2.  I wanted to upgrade the Voodoo2 (in my case to a Voodoo 5), but this
would have meant ditching the ATI card altogether, and losing my capability of
watching TV while websurfing or whatever.  So, what I did was upgrade to the
Voodoo 5 and also bought the ATI  "TV Wonder Value" card (It costs around $40).

I know that this would mean that you need to get TWO new vidcards (a Geforce or
whatever and the ATI TV Wonder), but it is a workable option....   FWIW, I've
had no compatibility problems with the 2 cards.  (I'm running Windows 98SE).

Hope this helps.  Good Luck.

I'd try several things, one of which would be to install a slot fan and
several case fans, I had a similar issue with a GF2 card that was
overheating, I didn't know which component was overheating but I installed 5
or 6 fans and it went away.  Once I switched to a GF3, the problem went away
entirely.  I've built a new computer since then, and included a few case
fans for good measure.  You might try adding some inexpensive case fans
before you give up and shell out a few hundred dollars.

Some sound advice. I'd suggest that you try all avenues before you
install a new OS to try and fix it. Win 98SE is still the bees knees
of OS's for ***. Win XP will give you a slow down of 30% alone,
that's if you get it to work.
