Hi,
I am going to just give the improved items I have found and liked
running the new NASCAR2. I have run NASCAR2 for three hours on my
Pentium 150/Diamond Stealth 64 with 16Meg, Using a TSW steering wheel,
and SB16 sound card.
Once program was installed after following instructions from the Web
site I got it from, Program came up with no problems. I had to copy
sound .cfg file over from old NASCAR program to get sound as mentioned
in readme file.
The things I like about the new NASCAR2:
1. The changes in the graphics are better in NASCAR2. More detail. Not
quite as much as GP2, but I like the new layouts of tracks.
2. The cars are much more detailed and clearer now. I find the cars
handle better than in NASCAR, but thats my opinion.
3. I like the new track layouts for Atlanta and Watkins Glenn. I hope
the rest of final tracks are like these two.
4. The talking spotters are fantastic. It brings another flavor or
NASCAR touch the simulator. I would buy the simulator just to get
this feature.
5. I like the new menus designs are very well done, even though alot of
features are not implemented yet. Its great to see what the features
are going to be when it comes out this Winter.
Things that I have noticed(probably not implemented for demo)
1 The mirror does not seem to see what is behind the car at this time.
2. My TSW wheel cannot get pedals to be used as Accelerator/Brakes. So
I am using my shifter buttons as those functions(probably because of
joystick feature only allowed). Surpisingly, I drive pretty good in
this mode.
3. Under race pace lap, with only 10-12 cars, I cannot see the pace car
with 30 cars viewing selected.
4. If you get off on the grass at Watkins Glenn, it seeems much slicker
than in orignial NASCAR. Taction seems better on tracks.
5. The replay viewing are much different then orignal NASCAR, and the
long distance shots are different(some rough edges need to be
worked out on the viewing). Not sure if full screen option works(no
effect when clicked for demo). I like the side view stats of replay
window.
I will be very interested to see what this product looks like in 3D when
the rendition chip comes out. To sum it up, I am going to like NASCAR2
when final version comes out.
