Pit Stop Time?

Pit Stop Time?

Racing at Darlington.  In the lead lap.  Hit the wall and blow out the right
front tire.   Caution flag waves.  Hit "pause".  Set up pit stop to only
change right front tire and do not repair damage.  Enter the pits under 55
mph and still on the lead lap.  It took 35 seconds to change only the right
front tire.  What gives?
Anybody with an answer, let me know.

In order for you to have damaged your front tire, you did alot of damage
to the sheet metal around the tire.  In order for the crew to get the
new tire on (and maybe the old one off), they have to undo the mess you
created on your front end.  Also, they had a hard time getting the jack
under the car....  Be careful and don't make your crew work so hard. :)

probably had to manually lift the car to get the jack under it, then
bend out some sheet metal to fit the tire on the hub.
it seems even with the repairs off, they must make some
repairs to fit the tire.

my guess.

Even though you chose do not repair, some repair work must be done in
order to change the tire.  The sheet metal has to be pulled away to get
at the tire and to prevent it from rubbing on the fresh tire.  Add that
to the extra time it took to jack the car up, and 35 seconds may be a
fairly good time.
