"Error opening D:/intro.smk" in N2

by Bulldaw » Fri, 14 Mar 1997 04:00:00

I've configured Nascar2 to run in DOS.  I've added a mouse driver and a
few other things to my autoexec.bat file so that it will run.  My problem
is an error message that appears during the loading process of N2.  It
says "error opening D:/intro.smk". I'm assuming that this is the movie
that runs at the beginning of the game.  What can I do to get the movie to
run and remove the error message?  I thought adding my cdrom line to
autoexec.bat would fix it, but the error message still shows.  Any ideas?
Thanks. jj

Your cd is not setup right, or the disk is not in the drive. Recheck
both. If you can't seem to get this fixed, you can REM the line in the
.bat file.

Although this isn't exactly what you're looking for, forget the
intro...Start
the game straight...

...alright, no flames...and none for that one either!!  ;)

If you absolutely - positively must see the intro, try it from Win95.

Try executing NASCAR2.EXE instead of the bat.  This will not show the
movie and take you directly into the NASCAR2 GAME Screen.

If you don't have the cd in the drive you will get this message.  The game
will run fine if you did a full install so just ignore it.  But if you want
to watch the opening vid clip or race multiplayer put the cd in the drive
before starting the game.

Edit the N2.BAT File and REMout the following line as follows:

   REM smackply D:\intro.smk /U1 /N

I have been using it like this since the game first came out and have not
had any problems.
