Advice on Driving Wheels

I recently became a fanatic of driving games and bought myself N2, ICR2,
and NFS2.  The problem is my MS Sidewinder joystick just doesen't cut it
in a long race or trying to handbrake around a corner at 90 mph.  I've
been looking into getting a driving wheel.  The best I've come across it
seems is the Thrustmaster T2.  But now I hesitate to buy the 150 dollar
wheel because I've come across some news like that MotorSports GT
feedback wheel that is supposed to be out by now (this summer).  Anyone
have any news on that?  Also I read something about a whole new line of
wheels at
http://www.racesimcentral.net/
makes me wonder if the T2 will be obsolete soon... Anyone have some
advice for me?  Thanks.

The three best wheel and pedal set-ups are the ECCI, TSW or F1 Sim.

All are made from quality materials, to a very high standard, last for
ever, but are very expensive, (compared to a T2 or any other wheel?)

But they are worth it for the *feel* they give to driving a computer car.

For more info search on the three above names on the web, or any good
computer car simulation site.

Yeah....get a wheel and pedals, its the way to go!  I built my

****.

Have a look at Wallys World....Walts site has the biz.

PS.  Don't forget GP2,  IMO its superior to ICR2 and Nascar.... ;-)

Same here so I built my own for about $35.  Of course it doesnt have
feedback, but any wheel/pedal combo is such an improvement in control.  If
your not into spending alot of money run a web search on "homemade game
controlers".  That would give you an idea of the mechanics of it.  For the
electronics all you need is a meter to identify the pin assignments of
your j-stick.  It uped my lap times by at least  .25seconds

I found a diagram of Joystick Pin-Outs (for the connector end) on
suncom's sight.  (url unkown. do a search).  You'll still need to the meter
to figure which wire goes to which pin but this should help.  I also
recomend Mr. Ottenad's sight.  I think the  url is
http:\\www.oz.net\~wottenad\
but I could be mistaken.  I know if you click on the link to Homemade
Controls at www.nascar2.com that it should take you there.  I made my own
and decided to kinda plan it as it evolved and have spent over $150 on it
and am still not satisfied.  PLAN IT 1ST.  You won't regret it.
