I may finally have to bow to the inevetible....NO I WON"T KISS UP TO THE
irl AND I WON'T MAKE NICE WITH CORVETTES.  But I may have to say goodbye to
Win98se.   I have some new dvd stuff that is being a real pain.
First I found Win98se doesn't like USB2.0.  But I beat that.  THen I found
the software was for the Nt/xp line, but even that I got past.  But the
last straw was the supposed win9x drivers don't work.   Only the grownup
OS's are supported.

dang....

Gosh...this is amazing.   Why did I wait so long?   I click on start and
then the internet explorer thingy and <POOF!>  I'm on the internet again.
Wow...just like before.  This XP is the best.  Why with win98se I had to
just click on the Big Blue E thingy..now I can add two clicks to the
process.  Vunderbra!

lol...

Can't you set-up an icon (better yet a FireFox icon) on the quickstart
bar next to said start button?

Well, you can still add that Big Blue E thingy to your desktop in XP to
speed things up, or enable the quicklaunch toolbar.  ;-)

Still using win98SE too, but have had enough time to get used to XP now
that I may well have to join the fold.

Been there, done that, I feel your pain, Dave. Had to upgrade to XP
just for GTR.

Two things you should check out right now or with any fresh xp
install:

http://www.blackviper.com/   (switch off unneeded XP crap)
MicroSoft BootVis (optimizes the boot process)
AutoRuns

All the best,

uwe

One oddity during the install process.  I have the new dvd/cd drive as
the master with the older, tired, 52x cdrom as the slave on the 2nd ide
channel.  Well twice I tried to install XP from the new drive and twice it
ran into places it couldn't read.  So I plopped the cd into the old drive
and zzzooomm!  Installation went thru***ety-split.(slang for fast!)
