I'm not a NASCAR fan. In fact, I hate watching it. But I was very glad
to hear that Junior won. It was only fitting. Congrats Junior! Dad's
proud of ya...

not a much of a neckcar fan anymore, but i watched the race, and that had to
be one of the greatest moments in racing history ever.

It sure doesn't...

This is the first time since Daytona that I've really felt good about
watching Nascar.

Below is a message I sent to the local NBC affiliate in Houston. I had a long day of work
yesterday and was really looking forward to the race. The punchline is I fell asleep at 1 AM
(while fighting to stay awake for the finish). When I found out who won and how they won I got
ticked all over again at missing it. At least GPL, SCGT, and N4 are never preempted.  :-P

<<  I'll be glad to give KPRC-TV the benefit of doubt, but not showing the Saturday NASCAR
Daytona
race does bring to mind the question..."What the hell were they thinking?" I'm sure it was a
previous contractual agreement that mandated a "celebrity" golf tournament, "Entertainment
Tonight", and the "Miss Texas Beauty Pageant" should be shown in lieu of a live (or even tape
delayed) NASCAR race broadcast. Maybe KPRC-TV felt they fulfilled their commitment to fans by
showing the one-hour NASCAR 2001 "recap" from 2 to 3 PM? In the future, should KPRC-TV decide
that the previous mentioned items, or some similar programming provides a better ratings or
broadcast value, please post that race fans can wait till 10:30 PM on a Fox-associated local UHF
channel to view the race.  >>

You mean an NBC station actually didn't show the race?

Man, that's not only weird, it's down-right rude!

What did they show.  Re-Runs of Seinfeld or something ?

"celebrity" golf from   3-5 PM
syndicated stuff like "Entertainment Tonight", local news   5-8 PM
and (drumroll please....) "Miss Texas Pageant"   8-10 PM

Not sure what time the race actually came on the NBC network so some of the above may not have
been relevant.

Didn't know about KPRCs plans until yesterday evening. Imagine my surprise...haha. If somebody
fouled-up and got the scheduling commitment wrong in the programming department then *at least*
they could have gone for a delayed telecast at 10:30 PM. Sheesh.

IMO, the outcome was stacked in Little E's favour before the race even
started, well as stacked as it is possible for a race to be......
This race was nothing but a publicity stunt for NASCAR racing.
Little E's car had more power than any other car in the field, the
other driver's didn't race him as hard as they could/would have done in
differing circumstances and the whole thing stinks of a publicity
***.
I'd love to compare Little E's restrictor plate on a flow bench to the
other driver's plates..

Cheers,
Ron

You seem to forget he was 2nd at the 500.  Nothing staged about that.  You're
entitled to your opinion, but I think you're a little paranoid.
