N2-fuel mileage Question

In NASCAR 2, does the sim calculate fuel mileage based on # of laps only???
Or does it also determine mileage by RPM's also. If so, couldn't you
conserve fuel by driving around the track in 3rd or 4th gear during yellow
flag laps, using lower rpm's than in 1st or 2nd gear???
Somebody who has too much time on their hands should try to figure this one
out, if they haven't already!!!LOL!!!

Yes, you are correct on driving yellows in third or fourth.  We covered
this tip in the Bobby Labonte NASCAR 2 Video.  You can get it from

I often do run pace laps/yellows in 3rd or 4th gear to conserve fuel if the
situation warrants it (if I have to stop for tires anyways its kinda
pointless).  It does work, although it does not save a large amount of
fuel... it could be the difference if you were going to be close.

Yesterday I raced at Rockingham and was able to save enough during yellows
to not need to make a final pitstop... although it did not really help my
standings in the race much (god I suck at Rockingham).
