Help! Mobile Wheel Mounting

This may seem like the height of laziness, but...

Has anyone made a quick solution for wheel mounting that doesn't
involve constantly attaching and removing the wheel from the desk?

I've been playing a lot of SCGT lately, but I generally DON'T want my
wheel mounted in front of my monitor at any other time.
Due to the design of my desk, I have to rig a piece of cardboard under
the clamps on my T2 every time I mount it.
It's a pain in the butt, and hardly worth doing if I'm going to be
playing for less than half an hour. In fact, if I just have a short
time to play, I usually end up playing a first person shooter when I'd
rather be playing some SCGT.

I'm considering replacing the trusty T2 with a Logitech FF wheel
(which will probably eliminate the cardboard shim), but I'd still like
to do something similar with it.

My first idea was one of the monitor stands that clamp on the desk and
let you swing the device around. Not sure if this is a great idea for
a wheel though, since the springs would probably let the wheel move
around. Maybe a monitor stand that's capable of holding a large
monitor would have strong springs?

Another idea was mounting the wheel on a separate board, and attaching
it with a hinge to the corner of my desk. I'd arrange it so the board
slides right above the desktop when pivoted, so it wouldn't require
sliding back from the desktop to play (wheel clamps would be
eliminated, and wheel hard mounted to board).
My main issue with this is that I'd need to re-orient my desk.
It's in a corner now, and I'd need to mount the hinged board on the
side which is currently against the wall.

The pedals can stay in one place on the floor, they aren't in the way
like the wheel.

Have any of you guys done anything similar?
Any ideas would be appreciated!

Tim

I attached my T2 to a board.  I attached a smaller board under that
board to make a letter t shaped thing.  The t part slid into a slot I
put under my desk.  Its a bit easier than clamping and unclamping and
a lot more solid

I've got an old T1 and I use the Velcro strips that came with it, worked a
treat for years now. When you don't want to race anymore just pull the
steering wheel of the bench and place it underneath.

Regards Phil.
