I will not be so presumptious as to advise you on which card to buy, but I
will say that if you're buying for N3, you might as well wait until it comes
out for various reasons. It may support one or two specific cards (like
GPL) that -might- give better performance than what you intend to buy and,
more importantly, prices will have come down. Depending on release dates
you could even find yourself on the market for whatever the next generation
of gfx cards may be. You could also find out how, for example, a Matrox
G400 compares to a TNT2 for N3 by going on other people's experience before
you commit.
Just trying to make sure you don't end up regretting that you bought too
early in your enthusiasm!
A TNT2 seems like a reasonable choice at this point in time, though.
