My flight-sim habit means I occasionally forget to swap to my wheel before
starting GPL, resulting in a loss of calibration. I don't use full
deflection when I calibrate, so it's hard to get exactly the same settings
every time, leading to an "entertaining" period while I get used to the
slight difference.

After all this time it finally occurs to me that all I need to do is back
up the relevant file! I may be slow, but I get there in the end... Mmm,
there's a parallel to be drawn there somewhere, can't quite see it myself
;-)

If you just back out slowly (click the red button on the calibration screen)
and shut down GPL, then you settings should be just fine when you restart it
with your "gpl wheel"... works for me when i forget to turn my wheel on
before starting up GPL.

I don't remember there being a red button, but pressing "Esc" will do
the same.  I often forget to plug my LWFF in before launching GPL...

When you start GPL with a different, or missing, controller, the red
button is missing from the calibration screen (I think this is
actually always the case when in the calibration screen). However, the
esc key will still get you back out and not overwrite your original
settings.

All the previous answers about backing out of controller calibration
using ESC or the red button are true, but they don't answer your
question...

Yes, controls.cfg in the player folder IS the file you need to back up.
I sometimes forget to back out of calibration and so all I have to do
is restore the controls.cfg file that I had backed up previously.

All the best,
Lol SpeedFreek

Ah, but when my VROC autopilot's engaged, it's green, green, green! :-) I
usually manage to stop in time though.

Thx Lol. It just occured to me that I could have simply created a new
driver and tested the theory without any risk!
