Digital signature question

by Sondo » Thu, 02 Aug 2001 10:25:41

I am trying to install new drivers for my video card and keep getting the
notification that to maintain system reliability the drivers will not be
installed due to not having a certified digital signature.  Microsoft help
says that to install anyway, just click the advanced
button when notified the drivers won't be installed.  Here is the problem.
I cannot click the advanced button because it is "grayed" out.  So I need to
know how to turn this digital signature feature off to update my system.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Your OS is probably configured to not allow unsigned drivers to be
installed. If it's W2K, open Control Panel|Administrative Tools|Local
Security Settings|Local Policies|Security Options|Unsigned driver
installation behaviour and confirm that the policy is what you want. If
you're part of an AD domain, and it's a domain setting, you're screwed
unless you've got some form of admin control over the domain.

If it's not W2K - pass.

Cheers
Hamish
