Just another thought of mine follows.

Has anyone else noticed that this group is full of whinging knockers.
First they whinge about the delay of a product, then they whinge about
the bugs in it.  We were all awaiting HAWAII, now it is out, they can't
stop complaining about the bugs, flaws, other drivers.  We are
complaining about the delay of GP2.  You watch, after a month on sale,
everyone will be ***ing about something in it.  Everyone was demanding
ICR2.  Now that it is out everyone is ***ing about the bugs and lack of
patches.

STOP presuring the game companies to release products when you want them,
let them deliver them when they are ready, and you will get what you
want.  I applaud whoever is delaying the release of GP2.  Instead of
caving into pressure from this group and the public, they hard standing
fast and refusing to be bullied.  Good on them!

Grant.

Agree 100%. Sure I WAAAAAANNNNNNNTTTTT these products, but I'd rather
have it not only bug free, but developed to its full potential. I'll
happily wait - well, maybe not happily, but I'll wait :)

Cheers!

Do you also applaud them for constantly stating release dates and then
failing to meet them?

That seems to be the funny thing about people on USENET,
they *** when the games aren't released on time, but they also
*** if they are released in a hurry with bugs, hmm I think they
just like to ***.

Personally I would rather wait for a game to have most of the bugs
fixed before being released, oh and for some REAL fun check out the
long flame threads on alt.games.mechwarrior2 about the netmech delays.

I think mostly people who have done some programming generally understand
how release dates can slip, some of the 14 year olds who are used to
having Santa-Claus show up with their presents on time are not
accustomed to waiting, and if they have access to USENET...

Cheers.

Uh... wait, aren't you "whinging?" ;)

I am not complaining about the bugs, I am complaining that is has been
*half a year* and Papyrus hasn't given us one fix. Sure, they were in
a hurry to get it under the christmas tree, and I'm glad I had it back
in november, I've had some fun... but come on, the company has a
responsibility to the buyers to make their product do what it was
meant to do in some reasonable amount of time. 6 months is a long time
in the lifespan of an average piece of software.

You are suggesting our complaining "forced" Papyrus to get ICR2 out
before Christmas? And BTW, if we have such "force", we certainly
haven't done too well in "forcing" them to fix the bugs we've found
for them.

What the hell!?! Not that I particularly care about GP2, but I will
say that I don't "applaud" a company that misses all of it's stated
deadlines by *many* months. That is sloppy marketing. If a pizza guy
brought you your pizza several hours late, would you applaud him?

The least MP could do is explain what they're doing... instead, the
just keep sending out new deadlines, getting people everywhere to
reserve copies, then break them. That may be an effective strategy,
but it isn't a very nice one.

I agree with you... I would much rather have a better featured, bug
free product, but I will never agree with a company marketing a
product as "available" for sale long before it is ready for release!

This is simply not responsible trade practice!  I'll wait patiently,
but I would simply appreciate it if software publishers like SH/MPS
would wait until the product they are advertising as available for
sale is in fact that.  They have been advertising GP2 as available for
sale in PC Gamer since the January Issue (the first time I noticed
it).  The end of May is now approaching and I still don't have my
order.

THIS REALLY PISSES ME OFF AND IF THAT MAKES ME A WHINER...

I think you can fill in the rest!

Come on SH/MPS... you are not MICROSOFT!

I would not go as far as saying 'constantly'! Many of those supposed
release dates are pure makey-up by dealers, consumers, and support
staff dealing with no official announcments, and the latest little
squeak to ask when GP2's coming out.

It's taking so long though, that they might as well just release it
for Xmas. Those few extra months just seem so insignificant after our
long wait thus far.

Having rushed out to buy GP Manager when it was released, I can now
say that I agree with Grant. I would much rather wait for the
product to be right, than be put off by an rushed and incomplete
program.
