N4, cann't smoke the tires?

by Ray » Sat, 03 Nov 2001 07:21:52

I just purchased N4, unlike N2 and 3 (and very unGPL like) I can't seem to
accelerate away from the pits very well. I've tried playing with the auto
clutch/auto gears and still can't light 'em up. I tried reving up  and
dumping the clutch and still got the little old lady pull out. My
wheel/pedals is a Tmaster NASCAR pro Digital, and yes I calibrated it.

First, with the right gearing it is easily done. Second, you don't want to
do it anymore, just wait until you strip out that 1st gear and you can't use
it anymore, LOL. Yes, in N4, you can strip out any or all the gears and they
can not fix them during a pit stop, you will be without them the remainder
of the event (unles it is practice orQ, each new session will fix it but you
are toast if you do it in a race...)

Also, a few more details are needed; what track?  If it's a superspeedway,
you won't, and shouldn't be able to anyway.

Perhaps you have an aid on like traction control?

Turn off traction control.

The only track I've tried so far is Daytona, traction control is off.. I
just expected it to react like GPL

Well, with the plate drivetrain model, you'll be hard pressed to smoke the
tires at the superspeedways.  Try a short track :)

3500 pound car, tires as wide as 3 GPL tires, it won't react 'JUST LIKE
GPL.'  good luck

Superspeedway or not it is easy to do, rev it way up to redline, don't use
clutch, then just throw it in 1st gear and hold on.

N4, cann't smoke the tires?

Speaking about stripping gears.  I always hear the fox announcers
lamenting the toughness of the "bullet-proof" Jerico transmissions.
Well, the ones in N4 must be out of Yugos since I lose a gear with
quite a bit of consistency.  Is there an ini file setting that will
lessen the probability of losing a gear?
