GPL-Best Driving Wheel????

Anyone have any comments / opinions on the best racing wheel for use
with GPL?

Ive got my eye on a Logitech Formula GP ( No FF )
as well as Logitechs Formula force  (With FF)

most reviews have given FF a pretty low ranking as far as aiding in
fast lap times...   therefore im willing to live without it. However..
does USB Vs. Game Port connection have any advantages?

Aside from these two models anyone have any other favorites?
I love my Mad Cats Handheld when driving on PS1 and also a big fan of
the little joysticks on PS2's dual shock.  Currently im using a older
gravis analogue joystick and getting killed in VROC because of my lack
of shifting as well as throttle and brake usage.

I need something to make me competitive.

I believe that is called "practice". :^)

Anyway, I used to use a MS Precision Wheel (nonFF) but recently acquired
an Act-Labs FF. FF does help telling you what the car does but it sure
takes some time getting used to. After 3 weeks I'm approaching my former
PBs.

Perhaps it doesn't do wonder for lap times in the high end, but it
sure feels a lot more realistic, and it CAN give you hints on where
you're beginning to slide. Which makes you a better driver if you
didn't do too well before that.

Not to mention it's way more immersive. After all, if laptimes were all
that mattered, we could as well play <insert the most r.a.s. despised
arcade racer here>.

I have a Formula Force GP, works ok not a smooth as the older yellow wheel
but its ok.
With FF you learn to drive smoother & not just yank full lock in the turns.
CMR2 is great with the FF GP.
I also have a MS wheel & 3 Thrustmaster wheels as well but now use the FF GP
all the time, get a flat tyre in Nascar 3 & you know all about it.
With USB it's easy to change between wheels without a reboot

GPL is the one game where having FF DEFINETELY makes a difference.

I could never complete a simple Lap completely on the track until I got a FF
wheel.

I think FF is useless in N4, especially as poorly as it has been
implemented.

This admittedly seems to be the majority's opinion in this newsgroup.

It's not impossible, though - I think I've now finished 16 full-length
offline races without force-feedback.

As far as I can see, the key thing in choosing which wheel to buy is to
decide whether one can live without force-feedback or not. If one can't,
then there are a number of reasonably usable force-feedback wheels on
market. If one can, then he'll be in the very fortunate position of getting
to buy Thomas Superwheel thats functionality and engineering quality are in
a different league than any force-feedback wheel.

Unfortunately, I only have an MS FF wheel myself...

GPL was crashing for me when I was using my CORE.INI file, so I deleted
t  -  no FF and now I've taken 6 seconds of my PB at Kyalami and 3 at Monza.
LWFF BTW.  Its more realistic, but when I'm fishtailing and the wheel's
fighting, it makes it harder.

I used to race GPL w/o FF.
When switching FF on I had serious problems first.
Now I cannot race w/o FF anymore :-)
