Imho advertising and calling your own site 'really great' is stupid.
But it's a nice collection of links to really great sites.

"I've created a really great GP3 portal. Come check it out."

would you have found that better? Just curious.

Probably. Part of it may have been that he acted like he had *found* this
'great' site. That's a lie. The other part may have been that he posted it
over and over and over...
The combination of those two may***some people off. If he had posted like
your suggestion(ONCE), and asked for comments, I don't think ANYONE would have
flamed him for it.
