Home wheel building

Wonder if anyone there knows of a web-page about home building of
wheels.  I currently have an F1 sim compact - can't really afford a new
one but I'm not that happy with it.  What I'd really like to do is to be
able to put new electronics on the wheel to allow seperate
throttle/brake controls and to stop the pot settings "drifting" (I often
find driving games start to "pull" to one side or the other) and also,
have to recallibrate regularly.  (The worst about this is that I have to
recal. with foot "nearly to the floor" because this is the only way I
can be sure I'm getting 100% throttle rather than 95% - but this is
really unreliable because it means that where 50% throttle is moves with
each cal.)

This behaviour drives me insane - especially with games like
Colin McRae rally where the car might actually lose acceleration or
pull to one side as a result of damage.

SimRacing Online has provided the SimCommunity yet another great service
by providing Wally's World with server space.  Wally's World is one of
the best "How To" sites for making your own wheel and should provide you
with some insight.

The Lews wheels link you gave did not give the side menu so here is another
