Hello,

I was racing GPL online at Monza yesterday, and as I was blasting over the
start/finish line, the pitboard came up and disappeared into the guy who
holds it up, and was located IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRACK. I ran right over him.

It was the weirdest feeling, even he was just a bitmap I was sure I killed him.

Is this bug normal ?

I believe the 1.2 patch addresses this error.

Yesterday I drove a race on Monza with the 1.1.0.14 patch, and another
car drove right through me, like I was a ghost! Very weird experience!

I've had that happen once or twice before.  It scared me because there
was something in the track that wasn't there before.  Then it scared me
again when I realized that it was my lap board holding guy,  I figured
that since he was right there, I must not be on the track.  I almost
ended up taking the car beside me out because of that ;-)

That happened to me once...the retard decided to stand at the entrance to
Curva Grande just before the let-off point...I almost crashed the first time
I saw him, thinking he was a stalled Honda...ended up plowing him down darn
near each lap :)

Speaking of scary things.....

A couple of days ago I raced in an online race on GSB. We were racing at Spa
and just as I exited Stavelot on the opening lap I almost wet my pants.
I was going as fast as I could around the corner and were in deep
concentration to get the exit right... and then just as i was about to slam
the box into 5th gear -  a car materialised just in front of me... a spilt
millisecond later both car exploded in a ball of flames!

Man... it really scared the sh** out of me!!
Infact it scared me so much that i had to take a few seconds just to make
sure my heart was still ticking!

Sometimes I wonder if GSB and VROC need some sort of non-liability greement
or something like that.... I mean... this is scary stuff!

You mean he's back from the injuries I inflickted him a long time
ago ?  Wow, he's a tough cookie.

Seriously, its a known bug in GPL 1.1 .  I once was involved in an
online race at Silverstone where we started at the long straight after
T4.

I was the host for one just like that.  maybe it was that one you are
referring to(?).  I have also heard of that happening one other time
with another server.

It was quite confusing, and kind of fun starting from someplace other
then the usual. ;-)

What you mention is a bug in GSB, not in GPL. It occurs when using modified
grids through GSB and then switching to another track without returning to
GSB first. As a workaround, let the host install the modified grids himself
and then in GSB select to use unmodified grids. Or always return to GSB.
The modified grids can be found in the known places for GPL or on my site:
www.xs4all.nl/~westrab.

Now that you mention it, I think your right; we did not go back to GSB
but stayed connected to the server.

Thanks
