Just a quick note to those who where waiting for the US mirror
of
The Pits to come online today.
Being 6 hours ahead of the administrator of the mirror causes a few
problem with regard to getting messages about problems.
Because of this, and it being weekend, we've just mamanged to get the
'front end'
up to test it.
Everything is looking good, speed is excellent and we now have to
upload the files for the Workshop section.
We opted for a partial mirror of The Pits, that is, only the Workshop
section, as that is accessed the most.
Its locale (Florida) puts it in an excellent position for those of you
having problems accessing files on The Pits.
While it is difficult to access The Pits from the US, I am finding
that accessing the mirror from the UK is only marginally slower (a few
100b/sec) than using the UK site.
It may therefore solve problems for those of you in Europe who can't
get to the UK site.
Fingers crossed, ETA for the full mirror is between, 6pm GMT Wed 6th
Feb and 12am Wed 7th. We will try our best to stick to these times.
I will update the mirror section of the UK site, send a further
mailing and post to r.a.s the URL of the US mirror once it is online
and tested.
Many thanks to those of you who have be patient enough to wait and
have sympathised with our problems.
Now lets sit back and watch the counter fly......
