ok, does anybody in the US (newspapers, drivers, constructors...) have made
ANY proposals.

I would like to remind you that when senna died in 94 in the next race in
Monaco Wendlinger went out, and was probably saved by the modifications that
were decided BETWEEN imola and monaco (the "bathtub" like***pit)

I have read somewhere in this NG that almost all of the nascar teams have
ordered hans devices after daytona...will they be made compulsory ?

What is a bathtub***pit? What modifications were made between imola and
monaco?

They are going to make seatbelts manditory. I don't say that to be mean, but
to empasize that the accident to #3 was a freak accident, like Senna's was.
If everyone wants to re-design the sport, the tracks, the cars, they should
have done it last year after the accidents in Loudon, NH.  But no-one said
anything,  no-one cared because the two drivers weren't their heroes. I
think all racing series have done a great job improving safety since I
started going to the tracks 25 years ago. I remember going to my 1st
GrandPrix in 1976 and taking pictures of all the drivers, and two of them
died before the year was finished.  Sure there is always more, and they do
things that we don't know about. I think it is a great sport and I think
they make it safe, but at 180mph, or 240mph for Cart, bad things are going
to happen. Lets hope it doesn't for while.

Nothing until the insurance companies tell them to.

they made the lateral sides of the***pit much higher (looking if you are
seated in a bathtub) to avoid the same thing that killed senna

Only Sauber team did that.
Officially they made them about 10cm higher in 1995, and the first year with
the "bathtub design" was 1996 (although Sauber used the design in 1995
also).

NASCAR fears technology, they have difficulty with something called "time".
It's not valuable for them, they take whatever lenght it takes (and yes, it
can be VERY long unfortunately).

Just because they didn't do something last year means they aren't allowed to
do something this year?

If it was a belt failure, as it seems to have been, then I don't know that
any changes would have mattered in this case.

Full Face Helmet or not.  HANS or not.  If that belt broke, as is being
indicated, then nothing would have made a difference short of a true
miracle.

It was bad luck :(

I, personally, would like to see a full scientific study on that belt,
though.  All they can do is make sure that doesn't happen again, like most
race equipment failures.

This isn't true.  Had these***pit modifications been made
prior to Monaco then Karl Wendlinger's injuries would have been
significantly lessened.

even though it's "racing" and it's "dangerous" I think a failure in a
safety equipment as important as a belt is not admissible, don't the
officials check the safety equipment of the cars before the races ?

I work in a truck racing team, we have BIIIG cages and stuff, but yet
before every week end the marshalls are coming and are using some
machine to pull on the belts to check tham, among other things....

If nascar is run in such a sloopy way regarding safety equipment
there will be some other dead soon, unfortunately
