newbie question re multiplay

I am extremely new to sim racing (bought N2 last week) As I understand it in
order to race on the internet I would have to pay 20 odd dollars a month to
get on the TEN system. Are there any racing sims  that would allow me to
play  for free? Are any of them any good? Thank you.

Well, I only pay about 13.00 per month (40.00 every 3 mos).  Lets just
say, I would HIGHLY recommend you try it out.  I have NEVER played
another game/sim online that will give you the same type of feeling.
The guys online are VERY fast and VERY competitive.  Overall the quality
of play is good.

One option would be Kali
It's free for 15min., and US$ 20 once for the rest of your life. There's lots of
racers playing Nascar on server 56(where to race). But it only supports 8 players
at a time.

There really isn't that many racing games/sims that provide online play, or
for free. MS has CPR, MTM2, and Motocross Madness available for free at the
Zone with probably a hundred people available to race at any one time (with
MCM and MTM2). Maybe one of those titles will interest you.
