Internet play, why not try this !!

We all have tried internet play and most have been dissappointed by the
results. The net just can not handle the needs of Multi-player online play.

Soooo what about creating a rally sim that uses a realistic ( not CMR :)
games engine, and instead of racing door to door with 50 other people why
not do the stages like in real life against the clock and have the other
players times appear at the end of the stage. With 10 or so short stages a
whole "race" could be over in half an hour or so. Since there is only the
time data been shared with the other players the game should play with no
loss in performance. You could even have a world champs series with a
different country every night.

Any thoughts on this ??

Paul..

I totally agree..   with high PING..   internet RACING just really isn't
accessable to most..  (especially here in Australia)..

BUT.. a racing game that gets rid of the need for COLISION DETECTION would
totally be viable!!!

So.. a decent rally game.. with short stages..   SUPER Special stages!!!
etc..   with 10 or more driver going off in maybe 15 - 20 second intervals..
would be viable..  no matter what connection you have!!

Obviously this isn't perfect racing.. but remember...

THE INTERNET IS FAAARRR FROM PERFECT!!!!!!!!!   :-)

Think about it..

It's not perfect, but considering it provides 24 racers on a single track,
it's pretty darn good.

There are two free tracks, Atlanta and Watkins Glen that can be raced with
the demo version of NROS.  Be warned that no version of NROS supports
digital wheels.
