I like the Arcade mode, but I mostly race in Relistic. But I think it
would be cool if you could Qualify in arcade mode. I hate Starting at
the back of the pack. I think if you want, you should be able to Do a
full season with Qualifying in arcade mode. That way who knows, you
could start at the back, up front, middle, or grab the pole. Then the
cars will always give you a challenge, no matter where you start. Just
my feelings, anyone else agree...Kinda'?

I agree. Why not. It seemed Papyrus was overconcerned about a number of
things.

I suspect that NASCAR (the sim's sanctioning body, as it were) had a little to
say about this.  A number of things have changed in the sim that are very
specific to actual NASCAR racing - qualifying with a full tank of gas, no
saving the game, no chat during a race, no stagger adjustments, no speedo on
the dash...

Sierra probably wanted/needed NASCAR's approval/backing/endor***t for the
sim to use a lot of the things contained therein, such as tracks, real life
drivers, event names, etc., as well as support for the upcoming NRL online
racing division (already known to be an "official" NASCAR racing division).

While the above suspicions probably resulted in us loosing a few things we'd
all gotten used to in NCR1, a couple of major improvements in tracks, AI, and
car handling outweigh what we lost, and it's not that big of a deal to me
personally (I never used the "save game" feature anyway).

As far as arcade mode goes, it makes sense that you can't use arcade to
qualify and trun the rest of the race weekend in realistic mode.  That would
be like allowing the driver to turn off damage after qualifying.  Doesn't make
any sense to me, and therefore IMHO, it's not a good idea.

No, I mean run the whole race weekend in Arcade Mode. Have so you CAN'T
change it back to simulation mode. You Qualify in Arcade along with
Practice, warm-up and Race.

Good points, also how many real NASCAR drivers drive while suspended 10
feet in the air behind their car?
