F1rs patch 1.08 out

by Mikes Design » Sat, 28 Mar 1998 04:00:00

Hi all,
Right off I have noticed 2 things in Patch 1.08.
Seems the steering is much more precise ( less jerky )
at least at Interlagos where I dropped 1 sec. off my best time 1st time out
with new patch.
This is something for me as I am very consistent and without changing my
usual set-up
for Inter. to drop a whole second is quite surprising. Second thing I
noticed is a bit of a bummer,
the nocd patch doesn't work with 1.08 :-( Ah well I am sure it will be
updated.

Fixes the purple font V2 problem, but not the 'ghosted***pit' V2 problem,
nor the 'black sky' ever present problem!

The framerate in V1.07 was worse than V1.05. Is this
fixed in V1.08? If not, I probably won't give it a try.

Thanks.

Try IT Greg and you'll love it.It correct controller problem and the frame
rate is better than ever.

F1rs patch 1.08 out

by Mikes Design » Sat, 28 Mar 1998 04:00:00

Hi Greg,
            You know I didn't notice a difference in fps between 1.07 &
1.08
But then I also didn't see any between 5 & 7?
Kind of odd because when I first tried F1rs back when it 1st came out.
I had 32MB Sdram and only D3D via AGP and it was jerky as hell like most
said.
So I did all the little fixes to sound no replay etc. But since getting it
back I have been
running it off a Canopus and 64MB Sdram and even with no fixes i.e. left
replays on
and didn't adjust any sound values. It runs great odd eh? I just thought it
was improved
with the 1.07 but since then I have read here that many had fps slow downs
with 1.07.
So beats me could be the RAM or the 3D card I guess. But like I said the
steering at Interlagos
was better. Last night I was trying to figure out if the brakes are also
better which contributes to
my feelings of improved steering.

What about the framerates??? same as 1.07 (ie slower) ?? and is there a
1.05 -> 1.08 patch available?

I'm gunna start crying soon :) VoodooII has been out a few weeks and
they fix it (partially at least by the sounds of it). Yet still no fix
for the D3D version for card owners who's cards have been out before
F1RS was even released. Is D3D really that bad that to fix it is just
too hard?

With the 1.08 patch I've noticed no increase or decrease in frame
rate. I've used all patches as they have been released and have seen
no difference when it comes to fps. I haven't played around with it
enough yet but it looks like what MD says is true, steering is more
precise.

All patches work on top of each other, so just run Voopatch and you are
there.

I just did a Quick race at Monaco with 1.08, started in pole and never
had such a bad frame rate! Next I will put in 1.05 and see if it's
different or my memory tricked me...

When it 1st came out it did not support D3D, that lame API was added in a
later patch.

F1RS had Direct3D support OOTB when it was first released.  I bought
it mid-November and Direct3D was present.

Man whats your damage? I was one of the first to get F1rs and yes it had
D3D!
In the whole sim D3D was supported from the start. Your confusing the whole
sim with the demo.
Whats your real beef?
