Has sos1937 ever been patched ??

by Bart-W. van Lit » Wed, 22 Mar 2000 04:00:00

Hi,

Has Spirit of Speed 1937 ever been patched ? Or was that ***y slow
framerate caused by my silly 32mb ? :)

I brought it back some months ago, but I'd kill to play it at a normal
framerate...

thanks!

Framerate won't solve the playability issue, sorry.

Best thing you can do for it is delete it.

SOS doesn't need a patch, it needs a new approach

Unless a patch can totally change the physics, the AI, the graphics, etc. etc.

I think the reason this has not been patched is because the same company had
to run out the Toy Story 2 game.
Most of the work in the game is getting the track data correct which has
been done. Setting up the physics is quite a quick job but takes a lot of
skill.
I see no reason why the AI and physics can not be finished. Maybe Hasbro can
convert the tracks and cars to work with the GP3 engine when it is released
in the same way we have restored life in to the old Sierra products with the
GPL engine.
Heres hoping !
Otherwise the people who have spent a large part of their time coding the
tracks and the people who bought this product in good faith have been very
badly treated.

It really would be nice if Broadsword was allowed to complete the game. The
tracks and the graphics in general have a lot going for them but physics and
gameplay are desperately in need of work. I suspect we won't see anyone else
try this era in racing for a long time if ever. Maybe they could sell the
code to some up and coming specialty house? (Are there such enterprises?)
