Dirt Track Racing 2, Sprint Cars, Leadfoot, Powerslide?  I'm surprised
they don't get more time on this group.

Anybody want a Leadfoot sequel?  It seems their latest game, Saturday
Night Speedway didn't get very good reviews, mostly because it's DTR 2.5.
Leadfoot 2 seems a logical choice.  Did the original game not sell?

I run DTR, DTR 2 and WOO...
I think they put out a good product...They make a great change of pace from
N 2003 and GPL...haven't tried leagues or on-line, though.
Uploading cars and skins for Ratbag's file system is a bit too tedious for
me, however. Too much file switching and deleting for my taste. That's about
my only complaint with them, though.

They are fun to play online, and with a half dozen cars or so, there isn't
too much lag, assuming the host is using DSL/cable and everybody else is
too.    I stick with the career modes mostly, there are some very good
racers on Gamespy that know how to setup their cars and drive fast.  I've
won a few races online, though.

The newer Sprintcars and Saturday Night Speedway are a little
disappointing.  The graphics are about the level of DTR 2 and the physics
are about as good (although they got rid of the slider and now they just
have "easy/medium/hard"), but they simplified the setups alot, which is both
good and bad (for instance, you cannot change the amount of toe on the
wheels, but you can change weighting, springs, etc.).  Maybe they didn't
want to make it too overwhelming for the console audience (they also are
console ports now, Ratbag really wanted to break into the console market,
obviously).   I'm also not a big Sprint Cars fan, so it's sort of a take it
or leave it thing for me, and the SNS only adds Midget cars, which are
fairly similar to the cars already in Leadfoot, except they drive on ovals
(there are also some fantasy courses in the game, like rally circuits).

Yeah, I like the DTR series, just needs a physics overhaul and newer
graphics. DTR2 was basically just a patch for DTR. I never had Leadfoot ...

I liked the ratbag games, powerslide & leadfoot were a lot of fun.
Sprintcars was good as well...
A mate of mine worked for Ratbag here in Adelaide (graphic director) so I
was able to try out the games before release.
He went to the USA with sprintcars to show the demo, in fact Trevor Green
(sprintcar racer here in Adelaide was the test driver...Green welding is
shown in game).
In Fact I have all the ratbag drive games but I must say have not used them
for a few years.  Powerslide, DTR, Leadfoot etc.

I tried online racing with sprints. Between lag and that fact that
cars were sliding around, there always seemed to be arguments over
what was an accident and what may have been an intentional crash. Gave
up after 1 "season".

There's clearly not enough depth in those titles.  They're like the fourth
of fifth sim we'll play, on a Friday night, when bored of all the
"principal" sims.

I really like their stuff, especially since I like local track racing more
than the pretty boy, uh, I mean Nascar of today.

Only thing that turned me off about them, was the ability to cheat online
easily.  Same problem Heat had, another great game imo.

There's alot of depth to the games.  Maybe too much.  I'd like to see a
simplified way to adjust gear ratios for somebody who is technically
illiterate like me (some way to change the acceleration-top speed ratio
without having to mess with individual gears).  I can handle the springs,
the toe, the weight an all that but the gear ratios always confuse me.

I haven't found too much cheating online with the games, but I also
haven't found too many online games recently either.

HO HO HO or yeah right?
like the "dirt versions" of anything track in "papy's" sim, is going to be
able to emulate close to how cars handle on dirt, in real life?  I cant
wait...

I created the engine sounds for Leadfoot and WoO Sprint cars......then
Ratbag weaseled out of paying me.  I wasn't about to start an international
lawsuit over $3,000!  LOL.....  I just chalked it off to a cheap learning
experience.

hehe.  Was wondering how long that statement would stand unaddressed.
