OK here's my video problem

My N99 and GPL have been having a video problem with my new system.
Voodoo3 3000.  I'm not sure what it is, but the screen jumps, then seems
to be compressed from the bottom and then resized.  this happens about
once every one or two seconds.  over and over again.
Now I've found one thing.  I rezised my desktop down to 800x600, no
problems in the desktop, only in the  games.  But when I lowered the res
again to 640x480, my desktop started jumping too.  Falcon 4.0 had the
same problem, but when I chose a banshee setting, that fixed itself.
Unfortunately, N99 and or Gpl doesn't have a Banshee listing in the
video options :>
  any takers??

Make sure your old video drivers have been removed and check your
display monitor properties to see if proper monitor , resolution, and
refresh rates are selected

I wonder if this might not be tied to your refresh rate.  If you're right on
the edge, say you're set to 75Hz and your system can only handle 75.5, there
may be times when the system can't keep up and you experience wierd
anomalies.  I'm not exactly sure how this works, but I would imagine that if
the monitor didn't have time to display a completely new frame at the given
refresh rate, it might momentarily default to a lower refresh for that frame
or frames, then switch back again.  How that lower refresh rate would
interact with your monitor, adapter and desktop settings might generate the
problems you're experiencing.  Just guessing here.

Thanks, it was a refesh rate problem,  My old sytem was SO OLD I
couldn't even choose refresh rates.  I had to lower the desktop res, the
mess with the settings, that stopped the hiccups, then I changed the
desktop back and ...  so far... it has worked properly now, and gpl's
graphic glitches are gone, no more sparkly***pit..
