Horse hockey, if MGI can get VR to run at 40+ with a PII200 with 7 cars in the
frame anyone can, I get in excess of 50 with every thing max on a 266 so it can
be done unless lazy programing is exceptable then a 400 might not cut the
mustard. Paul
Todd, thanks for the update and I hope things go well for you. GPL
has really gotten me in the mood for '60s racing, and I look forward
to your sim.
One thing which I wonder about, though, is your spec cited above.
While that may have been a good goal based on an earlier release date,
is it a bit conservative now? I don't want to sound like one of those
Celeron 300/450 snobs (even though I am one :), but is a P200 too low
to aim for? GPL (or GP2), although CPU-hogs on their release, should
have (or have had) a long life as CPUs become capable enough to run
these sims to their fullest extent. Hopefully you're not cutting too
many corners and designing out that future potential.
Again, looking forward to Camaro's and Mustangs and Mark Donohue
and Riverside and... :)
"But in a way, fear is a big part of racing, because if there was
nothing to be frightened of, and no limit, any fool could get into
a motor car and racing would not exist as a sport." -- Jim Clark
Comparing a company programming to another one is just not adequate in this
situation.
Depends on the rasterizer, game engine, physics, AI, etc... In that case,
GPL is a real bad case of programming, and that's a false statement. Just
be happy it will come out someday or another geeze.

"People think it must be fun to be a super genius, but they don't realise
how hard it is to put up with all the idiots in the world."
Well, I certainly will not be happy if it takes a PIII600 to run it with
everthing on max. Paul
