i just bought a new keyboard (about 2 weeks ago) cuz i dropped my wheel on
the old one and it died.
so i bought this new keyboard whihc had three totally useless keys which do
nothing apart from one marked "POWER" which puts the pc into standby mode,
which crashes it!. The company have fitted these three buttons in by moving
the pause/break, print screen and scroll lock buttons down so they meet with
the next line of keys. This keyboard is stupid because the power button is
in the same place as the pause button was so everytime i am in a race and
look at how i take a corner in the replay mode and then i exit and press the
pause button to continue driving but hangon the pause button isnt there any
more AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH blue screen of death and hey haev to press reset on
the pc box and it looses my pedal config.

NOW IVE TAKEN A SCREWDRIVER TO MY PC AND RIPPED THE button out.

why are kjeyboard manufacturers so stupid?
some are clever and put the buttons right at the top of the keyboard above
everything and they make the buttons harder to press, why cant other
manufacturers follow suit?

Why didn't you buy a keyboard with the keys where you wanted them?  It's not
like there aren't a variety of them available....

Microsoft put out a powertoy, that could disable the win9x keys, in
dos games. Maybe they have upgraded that to be used under win9x. I
think it was called "doswinky" or something like that

I've always wanted to see a keyboard with a way to disable the CAPS lock
key.  I am always hitting it what I don't want to!

So they make a keyboard with a system crash button... glad I didn't get that
one!

There's a way to disable this key. TEN had one file that did just that.
It got rid of some of my booting problems. Well, at least that something
TEN did right ;)

The file is called wkeykill.exe and should be available from their
download list.

My keyboard (Trust Ergo Track) has a key that serves no purpose at all. In
the top right hand corner, next to the caps, num and scroll lock lights
there is a single key marked with a triangle pointing left.
It does nothing. It even says in the keyboard manual somthing along the
lines of 'this key serves no purpose'. So why did they waste the money
putting it in?!

[description of ill-placed special keys]

You know, this reminds me of my old 486 running Apache Longbow. The
game ran OK in VGA, but everytime I pressed F1 to go see the online
manual, it crashed my video card. The problem was that both ESC and F2
were in heavy use in the simulation, so after ump*** inadvertant
crashes I finally shaped a small piece of foil to cover that button.

Worked nicely, and I didn't have to take the keycap away everytime I
wanted to play :)

It sounds like the power key on the Macintosh...  Maybe they have an adapter
for a Mac?
