I would love to race a drag car, motor bike, funny car or jet car in
simulation. Does anyone know of such a game or is one on the drawing
board.
GP2 junkie.

Yeah, how about "....I'm Steve Evans... From Papyrus, this is NHRA
DRAAGGG RACING....(followed by awesome graphics of a pass by a couple
of top fuelers or funny cars. Hello... Papy???
Miguel
And Papyrus would say, "Who's Steve Evans?"...
It's just not an all out sport...yet. Talking with one of their reps a
couple months ago, they have no plans for a drag racing release. Then
again, they have a strict policy of not discussing about current or
future projects...

I'd kill for a Drag Racing game,
Quite a while ago I heard of a 50's Hot Rod game that was supposedly
half racing and half role-play. You would look through the newpapers
and find a car, take it down to the local soda shop and meet people
and then go drag!
They could create a game that spanned the history of drag racing, from
the beginning to 300mph+ cars nowadays, with the player working his or
her way up. There are a lot more elements that you could include
aside from just hitting the throttle.
This is a homemade American sport and I really believe that there
would be a big market for it. A ton of Nascar fans at least live in
areas where drag racing has been popular since the 50's.
Just gotta keep hoping

Yeah, the game you first talked about was called Street Rod. I have it,
It's pretty cool.

The closest that I have now is NFS running at the desert course where
you can get a 1/4 mile time. Oh well....

You can get that game, plus a few other 'oldies but goodies' on those
Activision 2600 Action Pack games. It looks and performs like the
original did on the Atari, which may or may not be good. :)

I have been racing the big 3 sims for a little over a year (and GP2)
with a T2 and recently a P6 200, and I am just beginning to actually
feel the tracks. I went to the NHRA Keystone Nationals last week and
started thinking about a drag sim again. Seing the new track and the
slippery spots and how the drivers responded, I wonder what king of PC
setup would give you the kind of feedback you would need to actually
"drive" for 4 1/2 seconds. I'm also not sure the AWE32 I am pumping
through my stereo system would get anywhere near the sound of a top fuel
run. Drag racing is incredibly sophisticated and I wonder who could do
it justice.
