GP3 - AI Dumbest ever or intensly amazing??

How about this, qualifying at Monza -

I pull out the pits, start braking too early for first chicane (getting
used to new FF setup)
suddenly BANG! - Rammed up the arse, Not very impressed, damn! I think
the AI sucks if they can't even see me braking or avoid, BUT READ ON!

I view the replay and OMG! (viewed 1st from TV view, then the offenders
***pit)

AI driver first brakes hard, DOESN'T hit me and falls in behind me,
swerves to o/take, changes mind, swerves other way, too close to corner
so no go, so he revs right up, and does a schumacher and barges me of
the track.

I could have sworn that he was pissed at me ruining his hotlap. But i
find it hard to believe that
GC would actually code agression like this, when other features are
lacking and bugs still obvious, but could he have?

I'll upload the savegame to my webspace so you can judge for yourselves
:)

No real verdict on the AI yet myself..at first i thought it was
awesome..now i'm not sure anymore cause there  seems to be a lot of
"buttsniffing"..as you noticed..
But at least the post was very entertaining:)

The AI in GP3 are horrible, the cars seem to just jitter or jump left
and right on the track without actually turning, more like they just
suddenly slide across the road, and they act like you are never there,
they can be going half your speed and just as you are about to pass
them they'll pull right out in front of you, and like you said, they
can never judge when to slow down when following you and will just ram
into you every time if you happen to brake suddenly for something,
very depressing. ;-(

I mentioned in another thread that I had a Ferrari hit me from behind
in the pits of all places. People said the AI is good in GP3 when the
warez was first leaked, but IMO it's no better than F12K.

they can't really handle the wet races. I started from the back of the grid
at Imola. Going into Tamburello about 4 cars spun just under braking (no
contact) and I came round the corner to see 3 cars in the gravel. Every
corner of the next 2 laps another car appeared in the gravel.

Nos

The AI in F12k could not get around some of the circuits when the game
was released

Brazil, 2nd Gear right hander in the mid section
Spa, Eau Rouge it would have been funny bit I'd paid for it : (

After spending some time on the forums I made a patch that basically
increased the cars rear grip.  In the latest patch things are much
improved but the F1 2000 AI still needs work (have you seen the
oscillation down the straights that ends in a crash ?)

On the other hand, as a base to improve on the AI could be fantastic
in F1 2001 the parameters in F12k take into account agression, defence
and ability to push the car to the limit.  I've made another patch
that seems to give a really accurate impression of this year. If you
want a copy drop me a line

Regards Mike

But that sounds pretty much what Ferrari does in real races...so there
is nothing wrong with the AI  :)

Mike,

I just recently started playing F1 2000.  I like it, but the AI does
take a bit of the fun out.  I would be very interested in trying your
patch.  Every little bit of help would be nice.  Thanks!!

<grin> Sounds about right to me...

My one complaint about GP2 was that you'd never get more than 2
cars (out of 26!) fail to finish a race.

ROFL!

That's what I thought when this one guy tailgated my Mazda Astina when
"I braked suddenly for... something". VERY depressing.
