GP3:First day review and a bug or two

Thanks to a little shop I know in Bristol, I got my copy today. Nothing
massively to add to what others have written, only a couple of niggles:
Can't run online, with my small 56k modem, but there's a button there,
tantalising me, marked "Multiplayer"....darn. (I understand why it's there
for the fortunate, but it's just taunting me.)
I saved a race after qualifying, (pole, of course!!!), went back to the game
and was placed last on the grid, despite it still saying I had the best
time. Tried three different ways, same result. Untested solution is to save
the game with a few minutes left in qualifying...will report back later.
Thirdly, the rain. Superb stuff, great to drive thru, etc, but on my little
system quite the resource hogger. As previously mentioned, slows my lap down
in real terms by at least a minute or so at Melbourne, for example. Not too
big a problem, as I can simply run in sunny weather in individual races, but
not the Championship season, where it's uneditable.
If anyone's aware of any fixes (early days yet, I know, but as the game has
more than a few similarities to its predecessor...) I'd be glad to hear
them.

So, what about telling us a little bit MORE about that little system
of yours???

Thanks for asking: K6 II 500, Voodoo3, SB1024, 128Mb RAM. Using End It All

Colin, I'm curious as to whether you have experience in upgrading a
lower clocked K6-2 to 500. I have a 400 and was wondering whether a

That is weird.  I did the same with the warez version.  Saved a pole at
Monza, every time I loaded up I was on pole.

I haven't tried with the shop version yet.

Maybe it is the shop version that is the 7 week old beta :)

Colin,

Just got my copy too.

Save when you're on the grid waiting to start the race, had the same
problem you did (wasn't quite pole), but on reload when I spun on
takeoff, I was located at the back of the grid.

As soon as I was put on the grid, I esc'ed and saved, on reload it
retained my position.

Cheers,
Rod.

Funny, I seem to remember this happening to me too, only it was in GP2!
I guess they didn't bother to fix any of the old bugs from GP2 before
porting everything over to GP3.

Take care.
