The term is used (in this newsgroup that is) for the computer-controlled
cars that hum around the virtual tracks.
The art of programming AI is that the computer cars react well to
eachother, and to the players car. And "well" is either defined by "clean
driving and gentlemanship", or "like humans would drive". That differs a
lot, as anyone who has driven online can confirm.
F1GP had some "absent intelligence", the cars would cruise around the
track, and seemed totally oblivious to the players car. They would crash
right into you if you hadn't completed a pass before the turn-in point.
ICR1 OTOH had AI that was "scared easy", you had to get only near a
competitor and get one front wheel beside his rears, and he would go as far
out of the way as possible, often crashing in the meantime.
Any more "legendary" AI behaviour?

This refers to the computer controlled cars/drivers.
Hey, we all had to ask some time or other?
