The subject says it all. I went to the site but I could not find
anything that said what it was all about. Is it specific to F1 2001 or
is it something that uses it's own software?

Btw.. that producer from EA, James Hawkins I believe, said the F1 2001
patch (including ff) would be released mid Nov.. let's see if EA's
customer support is even better than Ubi's!
PS, David, I was right and you were wrong.
Andre
>>So.... where's the patch? ;-)
>Coming Soon!
>Ubi never disappoints its customers.

I have experienced the following...
-startline pile-ups through/and/or erratic slowing before T1.
-inability to avoid/go around obstacles (like a spun out car) in the race..
This is especially annoying to the player as whether one ends up on the
racing line or not one seems to get collected *every* time. Groups of AI
cars can block eachother/the track for laps on end.
-erratic slowing when being lapped.
I haven't seen much evidence of the famed shunting problem (also known as
"Surtees syndrome"). If one hits ones own markers right, there usually isn't
a problem unless one leads a little train of cars where I've experienced the
tail end charlie bumping the others into me.
That said, it is said the AI learn as they go along, maybe I didn't give the
them enough opportunity to practise by skipping sessions.

as a big fan of the game, let me summarize.
pro's
* fantastic graphics (better than f1 2001 imo)
* lots of addons freely available (www.f1-star.de)
* online racing community via relay (www.f1rcrelay.com)
* gorgeus track renditions in terms of inclines & slopes (better than
f1 2001 imo).
* excellent hotlapping with ghosts
* excellent wet / dry / mixed weather racing
* great Force Feedback.
con's
* AI numerous faults. not avoiding enough during braking
* AI not avoiding accidents.
* AI pitting during wet / dry races are predictable
* Multiplayer sucks out of box. goto www.f1rcrelay.com for a better
system.
* No patch in sight.
i still love it to bits.
If you can pick it up somewhere for a low price, it might surprise
you. i don't regret buying it for one minute.
Regards all,
istoff
and besides is FUN FUN FUN
oh and the graphics are superb.
The main difference in the driving model between F1RC and F12001 is that
F12001 has more grip at medium and high speeds. Maybe a little less at very
low speed chicanes and hairpin turns.

p.s. I got MBTR from InteractCD.com too. One of these days I might even play
it...
