F12001 Multiplay issues

I am quite new to F1 2001 but enjoy playing as a single player.

I started fooling around with the multiplayer game and the program  gives me
the option to join an existing on line game and search for one on the
internet.

The problem is that I have cant see any other games being played.

Am I doing something wrong as I would love to play it against real people.

It's not like papyrus.
AFAIK, you can only search for single games where you already know the ip of
the host!
In other words.....call your buddies!
There is a no-cheat ranking website that is *quite* fun -go here for that:
