Slower AI's in GP500??

by Hans-Ott » Fri, 28 Apr 2000 04:00:00

Hi,

I've just bought GP500 and I really like the game, but I have a funny
problem which gives me kind of a red face when I tell my racing buddies. The
problem is that I have set the AI strength to 5% but I still can't catch up
with the AI's in a race :-). Does anyone know how I can get it abit
lower...Of course I could practice more but anyway this is too hard for me.

says...

Unlike most sims, lowering the AI only makes them take a crappier line
though corners (at least to my understanding) rather than degrade their
top speed. i.e don't expect to be able to run them down on a long
straight but once you get proficient with the tracks, you'll be able to
grab them on the corners.

Cheers,
Rod.

Not sure they take a different line, but you'll find they have a very low
speed at the apex.

The problem I found with the AI was that even at the low settings, they get
terrific acceleration out of the turns, so that as Rod says, its much easier
to catch and pass through the "in" phase of the corner than it is through
the out phase.

Other difficulties:

1. staying on the black stuff long enough to get ahead ! - well, practice
and a bit of self control seem to sort that out eventually. Also beware,
"my" bike seems to suffer more from cold tyres than "their" bikes

2. terrible starts - I just couldn't get to the first corner anywhere but
last. That's improved a bit now, just floor it and go !

you can edit gpparticipants.txt! Alter all bikes in setuppath to be
Honda_vtwin (or scooter if they're still too fast!), you can also edit the
riders dat files - you can copy gimbert.dat and rename it to all the other
drivers!
Try visiting www.gp500.free-online.co.uk  there's loads of good stuff,
skins\setups etc.
