How realistic is GP4 slipstreaming?

Well, a controversial title, knowing the crowd in here, but I thought the
following on-board video from Silverstone was fascinating for a variety of
reasons. DaMatta learned a good lesson in Cart about restarts and pulls and
enormous lead, Montoya has a huge moment in Becketts, check out the huge
effect of slipstreaming as he hunts down Villeneuve on the Hangar straight
(don't forget, the BARs were really fast in a straight line - you can hear
Montoya's engine note scream as he gets sucked up, hence the reference to
GP4 and its much-maligned slipstreaming), and generally just enjoy all the
passing those silly F1 guys were doing on cold tires:

I dunno, after Martin Brundle once said that he could feel the tow from
another car, whilst commentating at Spa, I believe, as far as 2 seconds
back, then the GP series of games seems rather underdone to me.  :)

This comment was made some 3 or 4 years ago, at least, so I'm
paraphrasing slightly, but he definitely said so when referring to
racing on the fast circuits.  It may have been Hockenheim.
